Heya everyone! I am Merrick, and am one of the biggest fans of TWEWY~ I played the game long before Kingdom Hearts 3D was revealed, and am proud to say I am one of the original players, I guess. Anyhoo, I'll try my best to add in anything missing, and am looking forward to Dream Drop Distance, as well as a potential TWEWY sequel.
My Thoughts On TWEWY In Kingdom HeartsEdit
With the reveal of Neku, Shiki, Joshua, Beat, and Rhyme being in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, I realized that the once fairly unknown game I loved (and always will) that had a fairly small, but fantastic fan base may be lost thanks to The World Ends With You references, characters, (possibly) music, and more may be lost with the inclusion of these to a more strong fan base.
When I first played the game about a year after it came out, The World Ends With You was truly special to me. Sure, not as many people knew about it's existence. I could go to my friends and tell them or ask them about it, and they had no idea what I was talking about. I guess that's what made part of the game special is that I felt like Square Enix treated me and many other fans to a exclusive, fantastic game. The game had its own rules, jargon, and jokes that only we could understand. It was great.
But with the addition of these fantastic references to the game in the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, that secret, exclusive community may be lost forever in keyblades, heartless, and nobodies. And in many ways, that's great. Neku and his other Shibuya pals deserve to be expanded upon.
Ever since the day I completed the main story and found out many shocking secrets, I wished and prayed that The World Ends With You would have a sequel, or make cameos in other Square Enix games, and I'm glad that that wish came true! I'm glad I'll get to see them in action in Dream Drop Distance. Seeing their 3D models have been a sight to see, and cannot wait to see how character roles (especially Joshua's) will play a part in the co-existing Kingdom Hearts series.
Deep down, though, and I really thought about this, but deep down The World Ends With You has broken out from it's previously hidden status and is making it to true stardom.
Pretty soon, I think most everyone will know what The World Ends With You is! I should be happy that easily one of the best games ever is going to be well known. I mean, the appearance of this series in Kingdom Hearts may give Square Enix the thumbs up to green light a sequel. That would be great!
To the newcomers of TWEWY, I hope you get the same joy, thrill, and feeling of wonder as you explore the streets and discover the secrets the game has to offer (which is a lot!)
To those who played the game before the new Kingdom Hearts trailer was revealed, we can at least say that we were one of the original fans. The world will never end with the original, true fans!
