[edit] Suggestions from GipFace
- http://twewy.wikia.com/wiki/Pin_List_D (sorted by approximate per-hit damage)
That chart is too unwieldy compared to my PDF and doesn't even list efficiency itself. Why don't you trim the fat?
Pin ###: Remove "pin" (everyone knows they are pins) Class: R for reaper, N for angel, - for no class Boot/reboot: Remove "s" (everyone knows it's in seconds) LimitTime: Rename to "Limit" LimitUses: Rename to "Uses" for title, remove "uses" for pins Element: Rename to "Type", use plus/minus/N (+ - N) for type Offense200: Rename to "ATK200". Why even show decimals at all?
Now the chart gets reduced in width by a good amount. My other complaint is that you list in-game descriptions of pins. As you have probably realized, the in-game descriptions stink. It doesn't tell you that Sweet Tether Talk can hit an enemy up to 12x per use, or that Lightning Rook has multiple shots per use over Electric Warning. That kind of information would be more useful.
Putting up damage efficiency was a good start, but these charts really have to be more than a simple copy-paste in order for them to be of any use. Every pin should be tested in order to expose their nuances.
[edit] Progress
Done:
- adding the efficiency numbers
- remove s in Boot/Reboot (only in SMW data; templates still show s)
- LimitTime renamed Limit
- LimitUses renamed Uses & "uses" removed (only in SMW data; templates still show uses)
- Element renamed to Elm and uses Pos/Neg/Abi/Neu (but goddamn SMW will have problem with +; special symbol...)
- Offence200 renamed to ATK200, and rounded to integer
To be done:
- Add combat details description to the pins
- Work on formatting; still looks horrible because of limitations of the tool we use (SMW); see below
There are two ways to create this list (Pin List D):
- using SMW without tempaltes
- using [with templates]
- using templates only (no SMW) -- just like in the Pin List
So far we're using SMW without templates. But this approach is not flexible, can't change header (to make it more compact, etc.
Templates without SMW require a little more hard-coding, and take longer to modify, etc. But they would allow much nicer-looking list.
SMW with templates might be the best approach, but I couldn't figure out how to make that work.
If anyone wants to try out different formats, go ahead.
[edit] Combat detail field
We need a second description field in each Pin 001, etc. page. Call it something like "Damage comments" or "Combat details" or anything like that. Will need to fill that data in over time..
[edit] Corrections
Rhyme has no type, and neither do the element pins. I suggest using X.
Will you hotlink abilities? GipFace 23:45, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hotlink abilities: done. It's gonna take about half hour before all the lists and pages are fully updated. Mmoroz 08:46, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Do you mean that these 5 pins don't carry the "Neutral" element designation? Then I guess someone marked them incorrectly. We actually already have the "---" designation for "no element", just so far no one marked damage-dealing pins as such. I just added the "no element" designation to Rhyme and element pins. Oh, and should we rename "---" to the single letter "X"?
- The list below shows all the pins currently marked as "no element"; is any pins missing?
Whoa there. Rhyme and the element pins are the only battle pins with no class. All other pins with psychs are incorrect. GipFace 12:38, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
