The Spark Core Psych creates energy balls, or "orbs". The behaviours of these orbs depends on the Pin. If an enemy hits it, it has a high chance of flinching or being knocked back. This is activated by drawing a circle on the screen, and the orb appears at the center of the circle. The orb disappears after hitting a certain number of times, but the longer it stays, the less that number becomes.
Lightning Moon creates an orb that moves towards Neku, then revolves around him, which protects him from physical attack to an extent and damages any enemy who gets close. Lightning Storm creates a large orb which moves randomly in an erratic pattern. Thunder Pawn creates an orb which moves in a random direction, stops briefly, then moves again. Lightning Pawn creates a homing orb which hits an enemy repeatedly.
Lightning Pawn makes a good pin for both boss killing and regular fights because it locks onto an enemy and hits him repeatedly until its charge is depleted. Due to the knockback ability of Spark Core, the enemy will basically be juggled until the Core fizzles out. If you use it repeatedly, that enemy will never get a chance to attack until your Lightning Pawn runs out of charge. This tactic works against some bosses as well, making it extremely useful in preventing a boss from attacking you.
