Shockwave

Added by KaynelNOTE: Shockwave is the name of both the psych and the pin. This article is about the psych Shockwave. The article about the pin is here.
Shockwave is a positive psych. It is easy to use, quick to activate, has some area damage, and features a puck passing finisher with minor knockback. Slash an enemy to activate it, and Neku will automatically move in and attack the enemy and surrounding area. All Shockwave pins are categorized under A class.
Analysis
Edit
When using this psych, the puck will not pass until the finishing slash with knockback is performed. This happens when the number of slashes in the current combo equal half the total number of uses. (Shockwave [the pin] is the exception; it will finish after three slashes) Psychs that increase the total number of uses such as Turbo Gauge do not influence this amount. When performing a combo, the player is allowed to finish it regardless of how many uses are remaining on the pin before reboot. The finishing slash may be bypassed by slashing at a slower rate.
The convenience of Shockwave comes at a cost of efficiency. It has a poor efficiency rating of 35%, meaning that it does not take full advantage of increased ATK at later stages in the game. Players will find that psychs with higher efficiency will have superior damage output. Nevertheless, it is a good general purpose psych for completing the main portion of the game.
Kanesada vs. Yoshimitsu
Edit
Before psych efficiency was detailed, many players compared the attack power of both pins and assumed that Kanesada did 11 more damage per slash than Yoshimitsu on normal difficulty. However, by applying psych efficiency, it is now known that Kanesada's additional attack power only amounts to an additional 4 damage per slash. Kanesada's full combo is five slashes due to having ten uses, while Yoshimitsu's full combo is eight slashes. 40 additional damage over ten slashes is hardly enough compensation for the reduced number of uses and combo time. Therefore, Yoshimitsu takes the title of the best Shockwave pin.
