Mr. Hanekoma, author of the Secret Reports.

The Secret Reports are records written by Sanae Hanekoma. They contain information that fill in many of the plot holes in The World Ends With You and NEO: The World Ends with You.

To those who have not finished the games, they spoil major parts of the stories of both games. Players may wish to collect them in-game for the reward of reading them, as reading this article may disincentive players from collecting them.

Speech Bubble - Exclamation Question SR Spoiler warning: Plot and/or character details follow.

The World Ends with You[]

Obtaining the Reports[]

The Secret Reports can only be obtained after defeating Draco Cantus and unlocking the Chapters Menu. Each chapter's mark contains between one and four stars, which label the tasks to be completed before each report is unlocked. This list contains instructions on completing each of these tasks, as some of them are obscure.

Additionally, for Final Remix, Secret Report 21 cannot be accessed unless the player has unlocked A New Day. It is not necessary to begin or complete A New Day to read Secret Report 21, however.

Shiki, Day 1 — Secret Report 1[]

As is common knowledge, all Games in the UG take place under Our supervision. However, this particular Game is saddled with a nigh-unbelievable set of extenuating circumstances, catching the attention of the Higher Plane. Thus, I shall be taking a more hands-on role this time, as detailed in this report.

The core differences in this Game are as follows:

  1. its role in plans for Shibuya's destruction,
  2. the Composer's absence from the UG,
  3. the resulting limitations to his powers, and
  4. the Game being played by a proxy.

The Composer has informed me of two major points: that he plans to destroy the UG, but also that his final decision will hinge on the outcome of his Game with the Conductor.

A provisional rule for this Game requires the Composer to vacate the Underground.

It is unprecedented for the Composer to be absent during a Game. I cannot predict what effect it may have.

Furthermore, the Composer must lower the frequency of his vibe to travel from the UG to the RG, inevitably curtailing his abilities.

This makes investigating the Conductor and his strategy incredibly difficult, as the Composer is still the only one who knows who and what I am.

It means lingering in the UG to author reports carries a lethal risk.

The greatest randomizer in the current Game is the use of a handpicked proxy to compete against the Conductor in the Composer's stead. No information on this person exists at present.

While the situation seems dire, I believe the key to getting ahead of all of this is at hand.

You see, time always builds upon the past. I have already located our key. It is a pin request from the Conductor.

Normally, the psych manifestations of pins are determined by one's Imagination. Thus, by analyzing the pin, the user's Imagination-or rather, their true intentions - are revealed.

Unfortunately, this order came through the Composer, and never came into contact with the Conductor. Thus, I could not use it to determine the nature of his Imagination.

I, too, have lowered my vibe to tune in to the UG, limiting my abilities.

However, at this stage, realizing that this pin holds the key is sufficient. The possibility of forestalling the plans for the UG's destruction remains the same.

Shiki, Day 2 — Secret Report 2[]

As the Game was set to end, I felt an intense burst of Soul. And at its source, I found the Composer's handpicked proxy - one Neku Sakuraba.

Let it be noted that once danger was past, the Soul he expelled rapidly tapered off.

I shall define Soul as it exists in the UG later. For now, let it suffice to say it is the energy he bears within him.

His unstable Soul is the result of a rift between his body and emotional mind.

This discord can be traced to a few causes:

  1. his dense and all-inclusive Soul composition,
  2. emotional confusion inhibiting the unity of his emotional self and physical body, and
  3. the exacerbation of that confusion by memory loss, due to his entry fee.

Shibuya's fate may rest on how well he manages to stabilize his Soul.

To measure his stability, I gave him a Harmonizer Pin. It can only be used when he cooperates with his partner.

Synchronizing with another hinges on his ability to first stabilize his own Soul; thus, successful use of the pin would indicate he has made progress on that front.

The further he is able to push his and his partner's psych resonance through Fusion, the greater his own internal stability will have become.

The progress of his Soul merits close observation henceforth.

Shiki, Day 3 — Secret Report 3[]

Allow me to redefine the Composer's role. As I continue to observe the Game's progress, I have a clear view of the enormous effect of the Composer's absence. A clear definition of his duties are key to understanding the extent of this disruption.

The Composer holds absolute authority over the Underground. By "authority" I mean the right to determine rules. He is the only one who can change the composition of the UG, and sole creator of this Shibuya.

The Underground Shibuya is created and organized by the Composer's rules, which pit Players against Reapers in a struggle for survival.

A new Composer only arises when the previous one is defeated; the victor takes the victim's place. At this juncture, the new Composer rewrites the rules of UG Shibuya.

However, there being no Composer at all is a different situation. It means rules that make up the UG are invalid.

In other words, without a Composer, the Underground collapses.

However, the Composer's absence is still a secret. At present, only three people know: the Composer himself; his opponent, the Conductor; and the Producer me.

The Producer's role is that of guardian over the Game. For observation purposes, he must sometimes descend from the Higher Plane to the Underground. While the Producer is natively an entity from the Higher Plane, he can adjust the frequency of his vibe to visit the UG and lower planes.

Think of a radio. Going from station A to station UG simply requires tuning in to a different frequency.

The Producer has the power to contact any and all beings in the Underground.

However, he is strictly prohibited from revealing his identity in the UG.

His existence endangers the stability of the rules and balance of the RG and UG. Thus, the Producer's identity must stay a secret from Reapers and Players - not to mention those in the RG.

He may freely contact only one person as the Producer, and that is the Composer.

Shiki, Day 4 — Secret Report 4[]

The UG exists as a separate plane where the Composer can judge the worth of men.

Within it are Reapers and human Players. It is infeasible for the Composer to judge all of humanity by himself, so a filtering system utilizing the Reapers was created: the Reapers' Game. Reapers act as a test, weeding out unfit Players.

Upon becoming a Reaper, one's physical body changes, gaining incredible strength and an extended lifespan.

As Reaper and Player alike progress through the Game, engaging in Imagination-driven combat, their Soul is refined.

Soul is abstract matter revealed through Our research into life and death, and a component in the makeup of the atmosphere, humans, will, thought-all phenomena.

As Reapers execute the Game, they undergo a process of evolution, from grunts to officers to the Composer.

However, Reapers that follow the ideal route are rare, and most are erased by Players.

Reaper or Player, those erased within the Game disperse the mind and spirit housed within their flesh in the form of Soul. Thus, they are erased only from visible existence: their Soul persists in the UG until gathered and tied together according to a new code.

This new code is, essentially, Imagination. Given sufficient Imagination, any form is possible, be it a pin or a Reaper.

Variations in this code cause the Soul to manifest in different forms.

In other words, humans, Reapers, and Noise are all entities formed of Soul. The only difference is their code.

And what are Noise? Entities without conscious will, only the drive to multiply. Thus, they constantly thirst for Soul, attacking Players and possessing humans in the Realground.

Soul consumed by Noise is destroyed, even if the Noise is erased.

Thus, possessed humans often exhibit a rush of euphoria immediately after the Noise is removed.

Though untested, the same would likely hold were a Player or Reaper possessed.

Shiki, Day 5 — Secret Report 5[]

The Realground and Underground are planes of existence. Other planes exist as well: the one inhabited solely by Noise, for example, or Our customary plane.

The planes are stacked in parallel, though each exists at a different frequency vibe, in tune with its inhabitants.

Observing a lower plane from a higher plane is simple. Actual trans-planar contact, whilst possible, is highly complex. The vibes of adjacent planes are closer, making passage between them comparatively easier.

More distant planes show greater differences in vibe frequencies, and thus communion becomes more difficult.

The UG exists just above the RG, allowing those in the UG to observe the RG, but not vice versa.

Noise exist on a special plane that straddles both the RG and UG, enabling their interference in the affairs of both. When Players come into contact with Noise, they are drawn into the Noise plane.

In other words, Players are forcibly tuned in to the Noise plane.

Conversely, there exists an even higher plane than the RG and UG. That is where I am from, the plane of the Angels.

As in the RG and UG, Angels have created a web of social schema to guide their activities. The role of Producer is just one cog in the Angel machine.

Angel vibes are extremely high-frequency; not even the Composer can catch them all. In actuality, he can pick up only that of the Producer.

As you can see, inter-planar contact is beset by difficulty, but certain modes do exist for its realization.

One is the modulator decal. Within its area of effect, Players from the UG can manifest visibly in the RG and communicate with others there.

Reapers and the Composer can down-tune their vibes at will. Near these decals, however, even their vibes will be forcibly adjusted to the lower frequency.

Another mode, imprinting, requires no physical manifestation in the RG.

Imprintees experience the conferred thoughts as bursts of inspiration. The reliability of these communique's thus depends upon the person receiving it.

For example, successful communication with preoccupied people is unlikely. Furthermore, recipient interpretation of said "inspiration" colors the message, making imprinting unreliable at best.

Reaper Creeper was created as a mode of popular communication between the planes.

Modulating paralogos printed on paper allow for limited UG interaction with Realground objects. As those in the RG are unaware, of Players, they perceive the illusion of a coin moving by itself.

Shiki, Day 6 — Secret Report 6[]

I receive periodic communication from the Composer. While we maintain contact, I am prohibited from providing him with information for risk of unbalancing the Game.

I am permitted only to respond to his commissions for certain items, and even then am able only to create and deliver said items.

The Composer has requested increased phone functionality for use in the next Game.

Today, the proxy's partner, one Shiki Misaki, freed herself from her defining value - envy. With this, the Composer is convinced of the proxy's victory on the seventh day.

His confidence arises because the proxy's intervention was indispensable in causing his partner's growth. It signals the proxy's departure from his obsessive self-actualization loop. Previously, even the Composer was unsure of his proxy's capacity for growth.

Normally, the Composer possesses a certain degree of clairvoyant foresight. His current down-tuned state, however, limits his abilities, clouding this supertemporal vision.

Though able to observe the UG from the Realground, he is otherwise saddled with limitations.

For one, his outward appearance. He looks younger than he would at full vibe frequency within the UG. Fortunately, this prevents the Reapers from recognizing him as the Composer.

To begin with, the Composer contacts Reapers only through the Conductor, so most are unaware of what he looks like. Additionally, as the being in the Underground with the highest vibe, some lesser Reapers are incapable of perceiving him.

The effects of down-tuning occur because the Composer's vibe and the RG's frequency are substantially different.

For Reapers, the down-tuning necessary to exist in the RG is significantly less, and thus effects less prominent changes. That said, it depends on the Reaper. At any rate, the effect is minimal, making Reapers much more frequent visitors to the Realground.

Provided they complete their duties, Reapers may do as they wish in the RG within certain accepted boundaries.

Shiki, Day 7 — Secret Report 7[]

As the Composer predicted, the proxy has won the Game.

So, what happens to those who survive the week? Those whose Imagination is less than outstanding are broken down into Soul, while those with excellent Imagination become Reapers. The most talented of these may travel to the next plane, inhabited by Us Angels.

Diligent Reapers, too, may pass through the office of Composer to ascent to the plane of Angels.

Now, a what if...

This may sound odd, but one may also choose to be reincarnated. Well, the word "reincarnation" is not quite accurate, for the humans of the UG are not truly dead. They merely possess different Soul code, and have been tuned in to a different plane.

We Angels do not consider it a loss if a talented Player elects to return to the Realground, as their superior Imagination will inspire other humans.

Upon returning to life, the exceptional Player's creative activities soon make their mark upon society. His art, music, and other output become a part of culture, spreading and persisting through time, refining people's Imagination even without personal contact with the Player.

Certainly, this requires time, but no one has ever accused Angels of being in a hurry. The Composer's absence during this particular Game, however, means that reincarnation is not an option.

Only the Composer possesses the level of Imagination necessary to reincarnate. It is beyond the Conductor's means.

The Conductor continues to act as if the Composer were present, but this farce can only continue for so long. I will be watching with great curiosity to see how the Conductor responds once his ruse unravels.

As I was busy writing reports, the boy in my custody, Beat, went missing.

Beat had expressed curiosity in how Noise was created. Perhaps he plans to ask a Reaper. But even without specific instruction from them, he has the ability now.

I gave him a pin filled with the special Imagination required to create Noise, and imprinted him with instructions for its use.

This does not qualify as interference in the Game.

The information I gave him will have no impact on the Game's results.

It was merely a token of my esteem for his unflinching passion towards what he holds dear. Whether he uses this power, and how, is completely up to him.

Joshua, Day 1 — Secret Report 8[]

As predicted by the Composer, his proxy has entered the Game a second time.

The proxy has proven his aptitude, and will be joined in the next Game by the Composer himself as his new partner.

There are three reasons behind the Composer's choice of actions:

  1. to ascertain the Conductor's strategy,
  2. to educate his proxy, and
  3. to protect him.

With his return to the UG, the limits on the Composer's abilities will be relaxed.

However, using his abilities could reveal his identity. As such, he will need to continue to limit himself for a while longer. This presents a certain set of risks.

The greatest risk, however, lies with the Composer joining the proxy for this Game.

The Composer's presence, his tremendously high vibe will place a great deal of physical and psychological strain on the proxy.

Furthermore, the proxy's victory in the previous Game has won him back his memory. The self-actualization loop binding the proxy is thus stronger than ever - more deeply ensconced even than the envy cleared from Shiki in the previous Game.

There is a possibility of the proxy's Soul destabilizing, negating its progress during the previous Game. Slight problems also persist with the proxy's personality.

How long will the proxy be able to bear being side by side with the Composer?

Joshua, Day 2 — Secret Report 9[]

Today, an alert was handed down: the discovery of a Fallen Angel.

A Fallen Angel is one who has broke the Angel's code - a criminal. Their crime: revealing the secrets of Taboo Noise refinery to the Game Master, Minamimoto.

Minamimoto knows the Composer's RG identity (secret even to the Conductor), and has chased him to the Realground. The Fallen Angel may also have supplied him with this information.

Minamimoto lusts to take the Composer's place, and his potential to do so comes second only to that of the Conductor. Despite being a complete outsider in the wager between Composer and Conductor, he stands to hinder the Composer greatly. It is entirely possible Minamimoto may rise to the office of Conductor before this wager has been decided.

All eyes from the Higher Plane are on this Game for the future of Shibuya. Should its result be invalidated by outside interference, the Angels' disappointment would be vast.

So...

What is the Fallen Angel's goal? Dominion over the Underground? Retribution against the Angels?

Whatever the case, we must carefully monitor Minamimoto's actions and stay vigilant against this Fallen Angel.

Joshua, Day 3 — Secret Report 10[]

I was finally able to hand over the phone tracking application the Composer requested some time back.

I informed the Composer it was ready three days ago, but they apparently had no time to come pick it up. It just shows how carefully the proxy is planning each move.

The application detects the Conductor's Imagination. With it, one can walk around Shibuya and piece together the Conductor's strategy.

At this point, even I cannot fathom the Conductor's plan. I will have to rely on the information gathered by the Composer.

While I wait for his findings, I will work on the Composer's next order - a second revision to the phone's functionality.

Today also marks my first contact with the proxy since he formed a pact with the Composer. He appears considerably wary of his partner at present time.

As expected, the psychological strain is severe. So severe, in fact, that most Players would be unable to continue. Right now, the only thing keeping the proxy in the Game is his entry fee.

At least his dangerously strained state of mind is acting to heighten his Soul. I saw no sign of relapse or destabilization; rather, the return of his memory sees to have yielded only positives.

I look forward to watching the proxy's continued growth.

Joshua, Day 4 — Secret Report 11[]

The Composer's reports indicate rough going in his investigation.

I suspect the limits upon his abilities.
Meanwhile, Minamimoto has not issued any missions.
The Reaper elites must be alarmed as well.
Perhaps this is more of the Fallen Angel's influence...

As I've stated, Minamimoto is suspected of a liaison with a Fallen Angel.

The Fallen Angel may have chosen Minamimoto for a few reasons.

First, none desired the Composer's office more. Minamimoto's obsession was great enough to compel him to pursue the Composer into the Realground.

Unlike simple Reapers, however, the Composer's powers are not lost in the RG. I can just imagine the shock dawning on Minamimoto's face as I write this...

Yes, the Composer must down-tune to the frequency of the Realground, limiting his powers. However, Minamimoto is in the same boat. As a result, the difference in their abilities remain unchanged. Thus, the assassination attempt failed.

While Minamimoto's efforts were fruitless, they serve as ample proof of his convictions.

The second reason the Fallen Angel may have targeted him is his lack of loyalty to the Reapers' organization and his preference for solo action.

His distaste for cooperation meant little chance of him revealing the Fallen Angel's presence.

The third reason is his consistently unconventional aesthetic. His bizarre actions regularly cause confusion among those around him. Even if the Fallen Angel were to urge him to do something out of the ordinary, that would be ordinary for him. No one would suspect a thing.

This is why he is an ideal target for a Fallen Angel to work his agenda without raising suspicion. At least, it seems a logical conclusion.

The question now is, why has Minamimoto abandoned the Game, and what is he doing?

I suspect that his only current objective is to take out the Composer. If so, he is likely preparing for the seventh day and his opportunity to confront the Players.

Just what did the Fallen Angel tell Minamimoto?

Perhaps no one will ever know.

Joshua, Day 5 — Secret Report 12[]

The proxy feels an affection for the art of the designer CAT - myself. As he was picked by the Composer, this is hardly coincidence. It was an inevitability.

CAT's creative works are embedded with command codes. His art acts as a medium for mass imprinting.

The imprinting Players use works only on an individual basis. However, through art, one can affect anyone who comes into contact with the work.

I imbue my art with two command codes. The first is "Enjoy the moment more". This strengthens the Imagination. The proxy received this signal loud and clear, though past trauma precluded him from responding accordingly.

The second code, "Gather", calls to those with strong Imaginations. Hence the inevitability: why wouldn't the Composer find his worthy proxy standing in front of my graffiti?

A single reason exists for rigging my art in this way: the creation of the future requires Imagination.

My art is widely accepted in Shibuya.

This proves that those with Imaginations sufficient to create the future are gathering in the area. Shibuya's future is looking very bright.

Joshua, Day 6 — Secret Report 13[]

I have finished Revision Two of the phone tracking app, which allows it to detect the Shibuya River. The Composer aims to use this device to convey the river's location to the proxy.

Before passing that knowledge along, the Composer needed to understand the Conductor's plan. As of yesterday, he felt confident in his hypothesis.

The Composer had encountered Red Skull pins everywhere the detector had lead - the same pins I created at the Conductor's behest on the first day. As I suspected, they form a prime piece of his strategy.

The Imagination he has filled those pins with is the same as that in the Player Pin: imprinting. They are set apart, however, by a single, major difference:

The Red Skull pins are made to imprint targets with the Conductor's will.

Anyone wearing the Red Skull pin is dominated by the Conductor's mind. The further the pins spread, the more people he controls. However, the Red Skull pins have penetrated less than half of Shibuya's Realground population in the last two weeks.

At this rate, the Conductor's strategy will end in failure.

How does he intend to penetrate the rest of Shibuya?

I will be monitoring his actions closely.

Joshua, Day 7 — Secret Report 14[]

The final day's mission came from the Conductor: eliminate Minamimoto.

Unexpected as it was, tension ran high, but the Composer's quick thinking saved the day. In the end, all went according to his plan, and he successfully guided the proxy on to the next Game.

His solution entailed first defeating Minamimoto, thereby ensuring the proxy's victory. Secondly, the Composer pretended to be erased by Minamimoto while shielding the proxy.

To accomplish this, he fled to a parallel world just before Minamimoto's final attack connected.

The proxy survived the Game alone, but was again unable to elect reincarnation, due to the Composer's illegal participation in the Game.

For better or worse, the Game between the Composer and Conductor concludes in one week's time.

The Conductor's strategy may end in failure, but we will see. I need to keep a close eye on his future actions.

All I can do is wait for the Composer to inform me of which parallel world he escaped to.

Beat, Day 1 — Secret Report 15[]

I've begun patrolling Shibuya in pursuit of the Conductor's strategy. While in Ugadawa, I spotted Minamimoto's Taboo Noise refinery sigil.

Several types of these sigils exist in various categories which We of the Higher Plane have classified. Not all of them, however, will work in the UG - its vibe frequency is simply too low for them to translate properly.

The sigil Minamimoto drew was one of the undecodable types. Was that a mistake on the Fallen Angel's part? Or was it a transcription error by Minamimoto?

Either way, with that design, he stands little chance of reviving himself.

However, Minamimoto is driven, and his Imagination strong. Perhaps strong enough to make a Taboo sigil work, even in the Underground... If so, the specific result would be impossible to predict.

Anything that might interfere with the Composer and Conductor's wager is to be avoided at any cost. I will personally neutralize Minamimoto's sigil.

Angels may not interfere in the Reapers' Game, but this contest will decide Shibuya's future. The Higher Plane cannot idly stand by.

Meanwhile, the Conductor has dealt a preemptive blow: the starting Player count in this final Game is one.

I cannot be certain whether the Conductor knows that Neku Sakuraba is the proxy, but this severe restriction to the number of entrants ensures Player erasure. In this flagrant abuse of his privilege, he has eliminated the threat of the proxy.

With the Composer in a parallel world, the proxy's position is perilous. Still, as Producer, I am bound by the rules. I can offer him no help...

All I can do is guide him to the Shibuya River.

Call it luck or fate, even by himself the proxy has managed to form a pact. He's partnered to Beat, now a Reaper, who is himself fixated on reaching the river. As such, guiding the proxy will require little work on my part.

Still, I haven't uncovered the Conductor's strategy for this final week. I can't afford to relax quite yet.

Beat, Day 2 — Secret Report 16[]

The Conductor has used Beat's betrayal as an excuse to issue an Emergency Call.

With it, the Composer's rules for the UG are essentially suspended. After weeks of concealing the Composer's absence, the Conductor finally has absolute authority.

At the same time, he's made Red Skull pins mandatory for all Reapers.

Now most of Shibuya has a Red Skull pin. The stage has been set for the Conductor's counterattack.

Furthermore, he's cordoned off each area of the UG with walls. I could leave the UG, elevate my vibe, and pass through them quite easily, but to what end? I am bound to the UG, and thus my hands are tied.

I cannot reach the Composer, nor do I know in which parallel world he's hiding.

For now, all I can do is use my second sight to watch the Game's progress.

Beat, Day 3 — Secret Report 17[]

Rather than head to the Shibuya River, the proxy has begun wandering the streets, apparently in pursuit of the Game Master.

Konishi, this round's Game Master, seems mainly interested in saving her own skin.

She appears a loyal follower of the Conductor, but the appearance of a promising candidate for Composer would quickly change her tune. At this point, she has been working hard to recover the Conductor's trust after her slip the first day.

She has issued a single six-day mission - one that exploits Beat's greatest weakness: Rhyme.

Her plan is to panic the pair into committing some fatal error while keeping watch from her front-row seat within Beat's shadow. This serves both to restore her standing with the Conductor and to avenge the blow to her pride.

Beat's greatest desire is to bring her back to life.

Even if revived, though, Rhyme still lost the Game. Her entry fee is non-refundable. I do not know what the girl's entry fee was, but a life without it - the thing she held most dear - would be filled with grief and hardship.

But is the void in one's heart caused by loss never filled?

I think it can be. But it may take some time, but something else will come along to fill that empty space - so long as one enjoys the present.

In other words, we needn't mourn the loss of that which we hold dear. If only more people realized this...

The Composer did not impose the entry upon Players to cause them anguish.

In experiencing life without the thing one most values, Players are forced to reexamine just how crucial those things really are. The hope is that by the close of the Game, Players will be able to take a hard look at themselves, and be able to take on the future with a new outlook on life.

The entry fee exists to force Players to see the truth about themselves. It is a test posed by the Composer to spur Player's self-enlightenment.

Beat, Day 4 — Secret Report 18[]

The Conductor has begun his work with the Red Skull pins. By bringing Shibuya's collective consciousness in line with his own, he hopes to accomplish his goal of rebuilding Shibuya.

The Conductor's zeal is unparalleled among Reapers. His strong presence was central to the Composer's ability to govern Shibuya, an area considered exceptionally chaotic even among the Higher Plane's denizens.

That the Composer would consent to base his plans for Shibuya's destruction on a Game with the Conductor shows his unwavering trust in his subordinate.

The unification of minds is the natural state of the Higher Plane. Given time, it might happen throughout the Underground. The current UG, however, is not ready.

People have erected walls around their minds, dividing their collective consciousness.

They coexist independently, like the cells that make up a single human being.

While the Player Pin hold Imagination strong enough to pass through those walls, the pin user's own barriers are strengthened. Were that not the case, the incoming flood of other minds could erode at the user's own consciousness. Consequently, those who hold Player Pins cannot be scanned.

Why does individuality exist?

This is something the Conductor has overlooked. Everything that exists has a purpose. Obsessed with his egoistic "protection" of Shibuya, the Conductor has blinded himself to the facts. With his blind ego funneled into everyone in Shibuya, the city's destruction is not far off.

So long as there is individuality, it is impossible to fully eliminate loneliness. There is no such thing as a shared reality.

Even people who believe they share a connection are not truly connected. They must actually make contact, clash, and learn about others through their foreignness.

Differences should not be denied; they should be accepted and enjoyed.

People must realize this if Shibuya is to be spared from destruction.

Beat, Day 5 — Secret Report 19[]

I've detected an energy spike here. It would seem Minamimoto has returned.

I judged his revival unlikely after spotting his Taboo refinery sigil on the first day, but it appears Minamimoto's Imagination is much stronger than I'd anticipated. The Fallen Angel must have completed the array for him. A troubling thought. Who can say what impact this will have on the Composer and Conductor's Game?

Minamimoto has one goal now: to find the Composer and erase him.

Minamimoto has been tracking the Composer's movements. He must know that the Composer frequents this café. Chances are, he'll pay a visit himself.

As for the Composer, I have yet to receive any word from him. Could the Composer's abilities now be so limited that he cannot even reach me?

I may need to contact myselves in the parallel worlds to help search for him.

Let me expand on the concept of parallel worlds.

In life, reality is made up of a continuous string of choices, and the consequences of those choices. Every time a choice is made, the option not selected branches off and exists as its own reality: a parallel world.

Countless numbers of such parallel worlds exist within a single plane, be it the RG or the UG, and travel among them is possible through the use of Imagination.

Theoretically, anyone can jump to a parallel world, but penetrating the membrane between worlds requires up-tuning one's vibe. This limits the pool of beings able to make the trip.

Additionally, stress caused by breaking through the barrier can pull down the traveler's base vibe. If the vibe dips, the frequency maybe too low to pass through the barrier. In the worst cases, it may render the traveler unable to return to his or her own original world.

Conversely, Angels are beings meant to jump between worlds. Thus, such travel is a simple matter.

Angels have a higher base vibe than the frequency of the Underground, allowing them to leave the UG, then tune their vibe to that of the desired parallel world.

Beat, Day 6 — Secret Report 20[]

I have located the Composer.

He is in a world where Tin Pin Slammer - of all things! - reigns supreme. I am off to retrieve him.

Minamimoto has definitely targeted this shop, and not with friendly intentions. It is essential that I leave here immediately.

I will leave the keypin to the Shibuya River for the proxy. He should know what to do from there.

Shibuya's fate has been placed in the proxy's hands.

It is no longer safe for me in the UG. My work here is done.

All that remains is to retrieve the Composer from the parallel world, and bring him back to this one.

Beat, Day 7 — Secret Report 22[]

The Composer defeated the Conductor.

The Composer defeated the proxy.

However, he has stayed his decision to destroy Shibuya. It seems the course of the Game has brought about a change of heart in the Composer.

Yes, Shibuya persists - but it is no longer the same city as it was a month ago.

In its stead, a completely new Shibuya has arisen. As the Composer has changed, so Shibuya itself has metamorphosed.

One month previous, Shibuya was plagued with problems - dire enough to motivate the Composer to destroy it.

Today, Shibuya has shifted into what We Angels believe to be the optimal parallel world.

To complete this puzzle, all of the pieces had to be set in their proper place. If even one was incorrect, the entire picture would be ruined.

Rhyme's selfless display of kindness.
Higashizawa's bottomless career ambitions.
Konishi's heart of stone.
The Conductor's wild actions, born from overflowing love.

All of these were necessary if Shibuya was to be born anew. There are no extra pieces, no irrelevant components!

Accept society as an ever-changing thing, and your mind will also become flexible. Individuals will link together, and enact change throughout society.

This is the only way to weather - no, to ride high upon the waves of the ever-changing world. It was no coincidence the Composer opted for this simple method in the end.

My gratitude goes out to you all. I greatly look forward to what this new Shibuya will become.

Thank you.

Secret Report 21[]

I entered the parallel world and contacted the Composer. Unexpectedly, he seemed to be enjoying his stay. In fact, the reason he had not contacted me was because he was too busy playing Tin Pin. I made him promise to meet me at the Shibuya River. In the meantime, I need to hide out, so as not to meet myself in this world.

Usually, Angels existing as multiple entities within the same world poses little problem. However, mine is a somewhat... special case.

You see, I am the Fallen Angel who taught Minamimoto how to refine Taboo Noise.

Minamimoto owes his successful rebirth to the corrections I made to his flawed Taboo refinery sigil.

I must hide in Pork City for fear that my alternate self in this world may report me on sight.

Minamimoto is my backup plan to ensure Shibuya's survival. If the Composer does not change his mind, this unique city will be lost.

I must prevent that at any cost.

Thus, I've deemed it necessary to cross the boundaries Angels usually respect. I happily accept the stigma of Fallen Angel for this cause.

Well then. It's about time to meet him...

After calling the Composer and hearing his cheery voice, I feel as if my shadow falls even darker.

But darkness has always been husband to light.
I sincerely hope that someday my sins will be judged justified.

I still hold faith that they will. Now, and forevermore...

One last thing. To the Composer's pick.

Neku Sakuraba...

The future you must choose is within you.

I am glad to have had the chance to meet you.

A New Day 1 — Secret Addendum A[]

Thanks to the Composer's change of heart (brought on by exposure to his proxy's unbridled Imagination), Shibuya has been restored to its original state. Crisis averted.

Although the rules have undergone some slight revisions in the wake of Shibuya's rebirth, the powers that be deemed no major changes were necessary, saying it's better to keep things easy to understand.

For now, it seems, the Game will remain the same. The Composer will continue to use it as a tool by which he can judge the worth of visitors from the RG.

In other words, everything is back to normal.

...Well, in Shibuya, at least. The Incident outside the city has piqued the Composer's interest—and rightfully so. Neither one of us has ever seen it happen so close to home.

A New Day 2 — Secret Addendum B[]

Two boys I know quite well seem to have vanished from the RG a few hours ago.

What's more is that I've detected several spikes in activity over the past few days during regularly scheduled retunings.

While I have yet to find an explanation for the unexpected trouble that has accompanied Noise outbreaks and interplanar travel as of late, I can't help but think it must be connected to those boys' sudden disappearance.

For now, I've decided to investigate a certain Noise that made some major waves when it first appeared. Something about it strikes me as suspicious.

Although I have no evidence definitively tying the emergence of this Noise to the aforementioned incident, my intuition tells me the former was somehow caused by the latter. We'll see what I turn up when I check out the scene.

Speaking of which, it looks like the Composer is making moves of his own. We haven't coordinated our efforts, but I've got a hunch we're headed in the same direction.

A New Day 3 — Secret Addendum C[]

It turns out the enormous Noise under that little Reaper's control was actually a pseudo-parallel world artificially constructed by breaking down and forcibly rebinding the Soul from various Noise.

This sort of unusual and unstable dimension is extremely fragile, so we gave up on the idea of down-tuning our vibes to launch an infiltration. Instead, I interfered with the Noise from the outside by using an advanced method of imprinting.

My goal was to save both boys.

Unfortunately, I could only save one.

A pseudo-parallel world like that one is special in that it is heavily dependent upon its creator.

A considerable Imagination is required to create such a world—far greater than that of any run-of-the-mill Reaper. I suspect someone must have given that little girl a hand.

And what about those mysterious visions that invaded Neku's consciousness? What about that abnormal power and whoever created it? What about the Reaper resummoned into the UG via a refinery sigil?

All of these phenomena occurred almost simultaneously with the aforementioned incident in Shinjuku—that is, the Inversion. But is it possible a single event could truly have such widespread repercussions? I'm determined to find out.

Secret Report No. 1[]

Three years have passed since the Game that caught the attention of the Higher Plane. Observation is still ongoing, but from the UG, it looks as if Shibuya is on the brink of catastrophe once more.

I am forbidden from intervening in the Game this time, so I’ll have to settle for recording the changing state of both the RG and UG here in this report.

The Executor first intruded on Shibuya three years ago. Originally from Shinjuku, this Angel started a clandestine Game with Shibuya’s Composer, which ultimately led to Shinjuku’s destruction.

He should have been reprimanded as soon as he arrived in Shibuya, but the elites are turning a blind eye for some reason. Possibly because most Higher Plane denizens still oppose Shibuya’s impurification.

This Game resembles said impurification in that it is subject to a set of extenuating circumstances somehow keeping it in balance, which are as follows:

  1. difference of opinion and subsequent conflict on the subject of Shibuya’s destruction,
  2. the absence of the Composer,
  3. the Game being played by two proxies, and
  4. direct interference by the Executor.

Neither the Executor, who wishes for Shibuya to be destroyed and purified, nor the Composer, who has managed to prevent this up until now, can directly intervene in the goings-on of the UG. If they wish to take action, they must do so via proxy.

The Executor’s proxy in this game is the Conductor, Shiba Miyakaze, and the Composer’s is a human Player, one Rindo Kanade.

I will henceforth refer to Shiba Miyakaze as the “Conductor,” and Rindo Kanade as the “proxy.”

Perhaps spurred by the appearance of the proxy, former Reaper Sho Minamimoto has resumed activity after an extended period of silence. Furthermore, I’m picking up vibes similar to those emitting from Shinjuku just before its purification. They are still faint, but I will keep a close eye on them.

Secret Report No. 2[]

With a proxy in place of an acting Composer, the Game is affected in numerous ways, the most significant being the implementation of bogus rules by the Conductor.

One such rule is the division of Players into teams, presumably adopted from Shinjuku’s rulebook.

Under the team system, whichever team earns the most points over the course of the week may choose to either continue playing, or not.

If they choose not to continue, they may return to the RG if they so desire. However, only the Composer can send Players back to the RG. The Conductor has no right to implement such a rule, and no ability to carry it out.

As such, it is in the Conductor’s best interest for the winning team to choose to continue playing. To assure this will happen, he has allied himself with a team clearly intent on continuing the Game indefinitelyーthe Ruinbringers.

Each team’s relative value is measured against the others’ using their scores, and a loss for the team is a loss for each individual within it.

It is unclear when these rules were first implemented in Shinjuku, but what is clear is that they seem specifically designed to eliminate Players, counter to the objective of the Game.

Secret Report No. 3[]

A new Player has joined the proxy’s team. The inability of the Composer and myselfーthe Producerーto intervene puts Shibuya at a disadvantage, but this new recruit and Minamimoto may help turn the tides.

The team’s new member, one Nagi Usui, is at once open-minded and closed off. Interestingly, this makes her the perfect foil to Tosai Furesawa. A healthy variety of personalities and abilities should benefit their team.

The proxy has started using his powers in earnest. I can scarcely believe someone could have such a powerful latent ability. Latent powers are unique, naturally-occurring abilities awakened by tuning vibes. These vibes originate from the Higher Plane and resonate with the Soul of an individual, tuning them into their dormant powers. Incidentally, these vibes are the same ones required for travel between planes.

It is highly unusual for multiple Players with latent powers to appear in succession. I suspect the pins found in the RG have been imbued with tuning vibes for the express purpose of seeking out such individuals; the more hands the pins make their way into, the greater the chance of finding promising new Players.

However, the proxy’s ability is a significant deviation from standard latent powers.

It is far too dangerous. If I could, I would have ensured it remained dormant, for the sake of both the UG and the RG. It has the potential to not only warp, but demolish the lower planes’ code.

I wonder if the Composer foresaw this and chose his proxy because of it.

Secret Report No. 4[]

So, what exactly is the purpose of the Reaper’s Game? Let us review.

The explicit goal of the Game is to locate exceptional individuals. Players of superior Imagination are elevated to the Higher Plane and made into Reapers or Angels to aid in the oversight of their region.

The UG is located on a higher plane than the RG. It is understood to be the afterlife, as the Soul is modulated and relocated to the UG upon the death of the body in the RG.

However, the proxy and his fellows were brought to the UG unmodulated. They have already begun to suspect that something is amiss, in respect to both themselves and the Ruinbringers.

The Reapers should be fighting for their lives same as the Players, but Shibuya’s internal Reaper hierarchy is at a total standstill.

Three years ago, Shibuya’s acting Composer and Conductor carried out a Game to determine Shibuya’s fate. The events that unfolded are now known as Shibuya’s impurification. The hierarchical freeze presumably stems from opposition to the impurification.

I detected a new set of vibes in the UG at the end of the day.

It seems those pins have awakened new powers within someone and modulated them for entry to the UG, just like the proxy.

This time, it is someone the Composer and I know quite well.

Secret Report No. 5[]

A turf war called the “Scramble Slam” has just taken place.

The Ruinbringers declined to participate. If they had, they surely would have won, leading to a decrease in overall morale. I suspect this little diversion, which pits Players against each other in place of Noise, exists purely for the entertainment of the Conductor.

This week marks the 104th Game under the current Conductor. The Deep Rivers Society, the Variabeauties, and the Purehearts have all been subject to at least 30 loops. They are beginning to show signs of fatigue, presumably sensing the impossibility of victory against the Ruinbringers.

Perceiving the Game as unwinnable has a marked negative effect on Players’ wellbeing.

The proxy’s team may be able to avoid coming in last place, but the odds of them toppling the Ruinbringers to claim victory are slim. Although, anything can happen in this Game. They may surprise me yet.

Minamimoto has become aware of the proxy’s powers, and seems to be plotting something.

Secret Report No. 6[]

The proxy’s Soul is beginning to change. Strangely, its evolution trends toward stagnation rather than development. It is almost as if the range of his vibes is shrinking.

I believe this may be due in part to his readiness to adopt the opinions and values of others, mistakenly believing them to be his own. He seems to do this entirely unconsciously; he may never realize it is happening.

Under ordinary circumstances, Players in Shibuya’s Game pay an entry fee upon arrival, through which the Composer offers them a chance to reexamine themselves. This Game has no entry fee.

The Shinjuku rules neither encourage nor allow for personal growth or change, making the Game just thatーa mere competition to collect points to prove one’s worth.

The proxy’s stagnant Soul makes him the perfect user for his latent ability. For better or for worse, he is able to maintain abnormally high levels of Imagination, thereby increasing the accuracy of each Replay.

The pieces fit together almost too perfectly. I can only hope I’m overthinking things.

Secret Report No. 7[]

The Deep Rivers Society has been erased in accordance with the rules of the Game. The Souls of all members, including the leader, are gone.

Their erasure runs counter to the goal of judging each Player’s abilities, but it is unsurprising, considering the Conductor’s intentions. Upon witnessing the erasure, the proxy’s vibes have weakened once again. His increasingly hardened emotional state may be cause for concern.

As suspected, the individual who arrived in the proxy’s moments of need was the source of the vibes I detected a few days ago.

It does not appear as if the Composer had a hand in the sudden appearance of our old friend. In sharp contrast to the ever-active Executor, the Composer is seemingly biding his time.

Although I am unable to make contact to confirm, I believe the reappearance of this particular individual works in Shibuya’s favor.

Minamimoto, on the other hand has all but vanished from the proxy’s side. His Noise refinery sigil drastically heightens his Imagination, which may be why he can clearly recognize the proxy’s abilities.

I have an idea of what he’s planning. It’s dangerous, but I have no way of stopping him.

Incidentally, the Noise refinery sigil is a reproduction copied from its original by a certain Reaper. Its completeness, or lack thereof, may be a factor in the subtle change in Minamimoto’s fundamental vibes.

Secret Report No. 8[]

Four teams remain: the Ruinbringers, the Purehearts, the Variabeauties, and the Wicked Twisters. Only one may survive and emerge victorious.

At long last, the Game approaches its conclusion.

According to Shinjuku’s rules, incoming Players’ abilities must exceed the total average Imagination of the current Players for them to be allowed into the Game.

As the Game continues and low-ranking teams are eliminated, the average rises, making it more and more difficult for newcomers to enter.

With the Deep Rivers Society gone, and the Wicked Twisters’ impressive latent abilities, the average Imagination has increased dramatically.

Only an immensely powerful Player could be pulled in at this point.

It can be safely assumed that the Game will continue and conclude with no more than the current set of Players.

The Game will continue into the week after next at longest, but the Conductor has yet to contact the Composer. It is possible he is unaware of the Higher Plane’s purification protocol.

If all goes according to the Conductor’s plan, he himself will be the victor of the game.

Secret Report No. 9[]

Our new arrival has joined the proxy’s team, almost as if filling the hole left by Minamimoto.

Daisukenojo Bito, also known as Beat, was a Player in the Game leading to Shibuya’s impurification. His fortitude is remarkable, as is his Soul and Imagination. He should prove a powerful ally to the proxy.

And yet the proxy’s Soul remains stagnant. Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say it has stagnated further.

I felt a similar shift eight days ago when Minamimoto joined the team.

If this is the fundamental immaturity of the proxy’s Soul, it will be difficult to bring to light, unlike Neku’s leading up to the impurification.

The proxy initiated another Replay today. The resulting drastic increase in planar distortions indicates that at this rate, an explosive increase is likely after only a few more uses.

However, the proxy’s pin is effectively absorbing the distortions, preventing the UG and lower planes from being affected at this time.

Secret Report No. 10[]

All of the Reapers stationed in Shibuya, including the Conductor, would ordinarily be referred to as “Shibuya Reapers,” but ongoing conflict has caused those from Shinjuku to be called “Shinjuku Reapers.”

Shinjuku’s inversion three years ago jumpstarted its purification, forcing the Reapers there to flee to Shibuya. An Inversion happens when the boundary between the UG and the RG is destroyed, forcing a purification.

It occurs, albeit incredibly rarely, when the Composer and Conductor fail to agree on the purification. The Composer’s permission is not required for a Reaper to continue working in a new area. Such transfers are left up to the Conductor.

In this case, Shibuya’s temporary Conductor at the time authorized the transfer of all Reapers from Shinjuku to Shibuya.

I detect no sign nor vibes of the Shinjuku Conductor at present. I assume he was destroyed along with Shinjuku.

Once a purification has begun, it is standard for the Conductor to be invited up to the Higher Plane. There is almost no evidence of a mass personnel transfer after the erasure of a Conductor in the past.

Almost.

Upon reviewing the records, I managed to find four cases where the affected area had fallen into imbalance before its purification was decided. One of those cases is Shibuya’s impurification.

The Composer should file a report on the circumstances leading up to Shinjuku’s purification at some point. Although I doubt he’ll do a thorough job of it, considering his disinterest in the lower planes.

With Shibuya’s Composer giving his tacit approval to the Shinjuku Reapers, Shibuya’s Reapers have no choice but to follow the rules given to them.

Regardless of the true circumstances, Shiba Miyakaze has effectively become the Conductor through legal means, as he was judged to be fit for the role.

Secret Report No. 11[]

Restlessness builds among the team leaders, and the proxy’s psychological state is far from optimal. I can only hope he will last the week.

The team’s base Groove is abnormally low. In a system built around teamwork, such irregularities are certain to have a major effect on the outcome of the Game.

A network called the RNS was created specifically for this Game. The ease with which it measures each individual’s vibes and Imagination makes it a useful tool for the management of both Players and Reapers.

However, making this information viewable also makes it accessible from the RG.

It can only be found by those who know of the UG’s existence and are sufficiently proficient with networks. No modulation is required to communicate between planes this way, though it is yet unclear if other issues arise as a result.

It’s possible that communicating through the network could inhibit Imagination, just as the full meaning and Imagination of a work of art cannot be captured on a screen.

I am no longer active as CAT, but if and when I resume, I must keep in mind how my works will be perceived when shared digitally, and alter my methods of expression accordingly.

Perhaps the developer of the RNS could provide me with some insight in that regard.

Secret Report No. 12[]

There has been a change in the proxy’s psychological state, as well as an improvement to relations between the members of his team. This is good news.

However, the proxy’s Soul remains stagnant as ever.

I have yet to fully analyze the stagnation, as I am currently unable to take any action beyond observing and hoping for the best.

By Shinjuku rules, Reapers are limited in the actions they may take. Of course, obstructing Players is not allowed on a basic level.

The primary enemies that Players face are other Players, namely those on opposing teams. Thus, any team aiming for the top must go through the Ruinbringers.

The proxy and his team are taking a different approach against the seemingly unbeatable Ruinbringers. To what extent it goes against the rules of the Game remains to be seen.

I doubt the Conductor will sit idly by and let them do as they please. If he is forced to make a move, things will either end very well, or very poorly.

As previously stated, Reapers are not allowed to interfere in the Game. And yet, one of them is currently doing just that.

It’s possible that her Reaper status will be stripped from her, but where will that leave her once the Game is over?

Secret Report No. 13[]

The leader of the Purehearts, one Motoi Anazawa, has gotten himself into a dire predicament.

While alive and online, he found himself a loyal follower in the proxy. If Motoi Anazawa is to face erasure, it would likely have a significant effect on the proxy, though to what extent remains to be seen.

Online communication can result in negative or positive outcomes, just the same as face-to-face communication. However, the opacity and anonymity accompanying digital communication leaves its participants more susceptible to misunderstanding.

It must have been quite a shock for the proxy to see Motoi Anazawa’s true nature, which was invisible to him online.

As predicted, Shoka Sakurane has been demoted from Reaper to Player as punishment for meddling in the Game and directly assisting Players.

Reapers face very few restrictions on the RNS. They may interact with the RG freely so long as they do not reveal their identities. But should they be demoted, their account is deleted and a separate Player account takes its place.

With her old account deactivated, Shoka Sakurane is no longer able to interact with the proxy as his online friend, unless she chooses to reveal herself as such.

She has aided the proxy via messaging up to now, but with that option no longer available to her, her next course of action is unclear.

Secret Report No. 14[]

The Conductor has made his intentions known to the Players. Although it would be impossible for him to carry out his goal of destroying Shibuya merely as the Conductor, he believes himself to be the Executor as well, sent from the Higher Plane to purify the city.

The Purehearts have been erased, as expected. Only two teams remain, discounting the Ruinbringers.

With the Ruinbringers’ true nature revealed, it is likely that the rules will change next Game to reflect that the Players stand to oppose the Reapers rather than each other.

I have detected unique vibes emanating from a certain inanimate object. I found it odd that the old stuffed animal should show up, but as it turns out, it is temporarily housing a disordered Soul.

Shinjuku's Conductor saved the Soul it contains, paying the price with his own erasure.

An Angel’s power is needed to free the captive Soul, but there is still no sign of the Composer, and I am forbidden from meddling in the Game.

I doubt the Executor would be willing to help, considering he most likely trapped it there to begin with.

Our only available options are to leave the Soul imprisoned or locate someone else with the means to release it. I suspect the original creator of the stuffed animal, a Player who managed to return to the RG three years ago, would be able to assist.

Unfortunately, she is currently absent from Shibuya.

Secret Report No. 15[]

The Game’s rules have changed significantly. Players, as well as Reapers or even the Conductor, may erase their opponents after defeating them.

At the same time the rules changed, Shiba made an unforeseen move against Shibuya.

An Inversion is underway.

The Noise released by the Conductor have destabilized the code of the entire Shibuya region. The lower planes, including the UG and RG, are particularly unsteady.

The code is a set of laws that binds together the Souls that make up all of existence. Think of it as the screws which hold everything together.

Some of Shibuya’s screws are loose, and others have been removed altogether, leaving nothing to support the city but its own weight. In other words, Shibuya is on the brink of collapse.

The deterioration of the boundary between the RG and UG is being hastened by rapidly multiplying Noise. If the boundary is lost, the city will be torn apart and purified.

There are many in the Higher Plane who believe normal purification has no meaning, as it maintains the existing planar framework. However, it is generally agreed that Inversions should not be utilized due to the complete loss of character the affected area undergoes as its framework is destroyed and rebuilt.

And yet the Composer maintains his silence as Shibuya faces the same fate as Shinjuku before it.

While Shibuya has undergone dramatic changes, the proxy’s psychological state is surprisingly stable. This could be interpreted as positive personal growth, as he has come to understand the situation he has been placed in, as well as what actions to take in response.

Shoka Sakurane has joined the proxy’s team. Her extraordinary powers should make her a fine addition.

Secret Report No. 16[]

One of the Shinjuku Reapers has been eliminated. I suspect the Conductor saw this coming.

Angels emit vibes strong enough to alter the minds of those in the lower planes. Reportedly, many Shinjuku Reapers have sensed a change in Shiba Miyakaze’s personality over time

I wonder how he will feel about all this after the Executor leaves and allows him to return to his former self.

The proxy has now used the Replay ability eight times, his pin absorbing the resulting planar distortions and changing appearance with each use. At present, there are no apparent adverse effects.

I am concerned about the physical changes to the proxy’s pin. It may indicate some kind of fundamental difference from the other pins.

Perhaps Replay isn’t a latent ability at all. It is far too powerful, and would make much more sense as a gift bestowed upon the proxy via the pin.

The Player pins were almost certainly made by the Executor. As an Angel, he would be able to prepare special pins at will.

It is unclear when and how the proxy acquired his pin. Logically, it must have been on the day he arrived in the UG.

All I know for certain is that several factors influencing the proxy’s fate were in play that day.

In any case, to give him such a pin knowing he is the Composer’s proxy would be either incredibly brave or incredibly insolent.

Secret Report No. 17[]

The Variabeauties have been erased. This is a major blow to the proxy’s team, as Kanon Tachibana provided them with vital emotional support.

Tosai Furesawa’s Soul is clearly the most heavily affected, despite his fundamental evasiveness and unwillingness to show his true feelings.

Once experience leads one to hold a certain belief, it is difficult to alter that mindset. This often leads to bitterness and anguish.

I wonder just how much of his bitterness Tosai Furesawa will be able to bear facing. The answer may very well depend on the proxy and his teammates.

Still, this is no time for idle talk.

The proxy’s team is the only one left.

The Conductor is oddly fixated on the team's unstable state. I would go so far as to say he seems more concerned with his enemies than the battle itself. As events unfold, it is not unthinkable that he might join forces with the proxy.

With the Conductor's plans laid bare, every Reaper, particularly the Shibuya Reapers, will be forced to choose a side.

Some of them who know what I am occasionally try to contact me, but I cannot respond.

The Shibuya Reapers will need to grow and adapt if they are to overcome this.

My old café on Cat Streetーthe one that served as my base three years agoーis always open to them. I hear that some drop by on occasion.

Notably, the faint vibes I felt from Shinjuku have returned to their full former strength. Someone is coming. Someone who can help decide Shibuya’s fate.

Secret Report No. 18[]

Neku Sakuraba has returned to Shibuya. As I suspected, the vibes I picked up seventeen days ago were his.

Being the last team standing has provided the Wicked Twisters with a sense of unity, but Daisukenojo Bito appears to believe it is his sole responsibility to carry the team.

I can’t say he was wrong in his actions toward Minamimoto, but the fact remains that he most likely would have been erased by the ex-Reaper had Neku not arrived.

The team has narrowly avoided disaster. Let’s hope they can carry on that momentum

Minamimoto’s focus was purely on the planar distortions when he turned half-Noise and went berserk. He may not be able to clearly measure the distortions from the UG, but that he can sense them at all is an impressive feat.

I suspect he is also becoming aware of the distortions within himself, along with the fact that these distortions should be undetectable from the UG.

Minamimoto seems to have come to the same conclusion I have:

Replay is too powerful an ability to be wielded by one from the lower planes.

I am beginning to piece together the Executor’s plan.

One more thing that concerns me is the proxy’s Soul.

Its stagnation has returned in full force just when it seemed it might finally fade away. There must be some cause for this, be it the proxy’s fear of Minamimoto or uncertainty surrounding his own interactions with Neku.

Secret Report No. 19[]

Neku Sakuraba has joined forces with the proxy. The Composer had sent him from Shibuya into Shinjuku during its purification, presumably to have him handle the situation there and keep him isolated and safe from those who would target him for his abilities.

As for the proxy, his Soul remains stagnant. I have yet to identify what exactly is preventing his growth. This would be much simpler if I could sit down and talk with him.

After repeated demands, I have finally obtained the report on Shinjuku’s purification. On the surface, the Game involved a conflict between the Conductor and the Reapers. In actuality, the Composer, eager to purify Shinjuku, planted the Executor amongst the Reapers to oppose and take down the Conductor.

This explains why the Conductor was erased and the Reapers transferred to a new area.

Tsugumi Matsunae had her suspicions about the Executor, so he sealed her Soul away to be safe. She was once a Reaper, though the Executor removed her status after she allied herself with her older brother, Shinjuku’s Conductor.

In Shinjuku, to lose your Reaper status is to be erased. Knowing he was defeated, Shinjuku’s Conductor used the last of his strength to save his sister’s Soul in a stuffed animal.

That stuffed animal belonged to one Shiki Misaki. A Shibuya Reaper must have taken it to Shinjuku.

As a result, Tsugumi Matsunae became the lone survivor of Shinjuku’s purification, once more a Reaper, but sealed away and closely monitored by the Executor.

She acted through no will of her own, as her Soul was trapped by Noise. However, she was still able to send messages to the proxy using her latent Trailer ability.

The Noise binding her is now gone. If the damage to her plush vessel can be fixed, her Soul will be free.

Secret Report No. 20[]

The Shibuya River is known to be a unique place, even amongst the entities of the Higher Plane. Its source is in Shinjuku, meaning it should have disappeared in the purification. And yet it continues to flow unseen in its own plane.

What an excellent idea to hide Souls there to spare them from purification.

Kaichi Susuki loved the Game and cared for his compatriots more than any of the other Shinjuku Reapers. His actions leave no room for doubt.

Most of the Shinjuku Reapers maintain the close bonds they shared back in Shinjuku. I know not what kind of Reaper Shiba Miyakaze was before being warped by the Executor, but judging by the Shinjuku Reapers’ unflinching devotion to him, he must have been exceptionally charismatic.

It is yet unknown if Shiba Miyakaze will be released from the Executor’s influence at the end of the Game.

Even if he does manage to return to his former self, he will be forced to face the tragic reality that the loss of his friends was brought about by his own actions.

Neku Sakuraba is wary of the proxy’s powers. The pin continues to endlessly absorb the generated distortionsーabsorb, but not destroy. They are likely being stored for some purpose. I wonder what the Composer thinks of all this. There is still no sign of movement from him. Does he have a plan at all? Tomorrow will tell.

Secret Report No. 21[]

The planar distortions caused by Replay were all a part of the Executor’s plan to purify Shibuya. The condition of the proxy and his comrades has taken a sudden turn for the worse.

The ability to turn distorted energy into Noise is entirely unique. It is likely latent to the Executor, either allowing him to create Noise or granting him some comparable power.

In essence, the distortions were once Souls. They manifest from the thoughts and lost time of those whose timelines were cut off from canonical history.

The proxy’s pin stores the distortions born from each abandoned timeline, causing them to behave similarly to their source thoughts and birth new distortions. In other words, the pin allows the distortions to grow and multiply with each journey back in time.

The birds the proxy saw are new distortions spawned from those stored in the pin, given an order-compliant and readily storable form.

Generally, Souls need a catalyst in order to take form. The Executor’s pin must be the catalyst in this case, generating Noise in advance and transplanting the distortions’ Imagination into them.

The Executor is exceptionally adept at handling Noise.

There is a strong possibility that the Noise’s present bird form is temporary and will change at some point.

If its shape is undefined and constantly changing, the proxy and his team have a tough battle ahead of them.

Shibuya is in grave danger.

Secret Report No. 22[]

Shibuya has received a new visitor, one that even the Composer must not have expected. It is the very same individual who drew up the report on Shinjuku’s Inversion.

But why would he come to Shibuya? Probably not to take care of the Executor; whatever business he may have with Tanzo Kubo can wait until after the purification.

It seems that Shinjuku’s Composer, one Hazuki Mikagi, has eliminated the Executor’s Noise and given the proxy another chance. I have an idea as to why. Shibuya’s Composer must be shaking his head right now.

I have finally determined what was causing the proxy’s Soul to stagnate: his fear of taking responsibility.

When reliable allies such as Minamimoto, Daisukenojo Bito, and Neku Sakuraba appeared and took the reins, the relief of being freed from responsibility stilled the proxy’s mind.

Ironic that it was the famously unsympathetic Composer of Shinjuku that led me to this conclusion.

Shibuya now owes its continued existence to the proxy’s use of Replay to undo its destruction.

It is up to the proxy to decide whether or not to turn back time. He undeniably has that right.

Shibuya has withstood destruction, but now stands to face an even greater danger. The challenge before us is one we cannot refuse.

Secret Report No. 23[]

The proxy’s team faced a giant bird-shaped Noise. It was reborn from the unstable black bird Noise, which were destroyed at the order level and reassembled. This is a clear act of interference by Shinjuku’s Composer.

It allowed the proxy and his team to focus all of their efforts on one target.

Each feather on the phoenix’s tail is the karmic representation of a single temporal reversal.

Perhaps this is a manifestation of the Shinjuku’s Composer’s internal conflict; he has taken an interest in the proxy and his teammates, yet his desire to see Shibuya purified is unchanged.

I believe that his interferenceーdealing with the Executor, contacting the proxy, and meddling with the distortionsーwas more than a simple apology to Shibuya.

It provided the perfect excuse for Shibuya’s Composer to make a direct move of his own.

However, Shibuya’s Composer failed to take the bait, remaining inactive to the very end.

His reason for appearing to Neku Sakuraba and the others as they connected to Shibuya’s Imagination was not to help them, but merely to stabilize Neku Sakuraba’s mind by reminding him he was there.

A look over the vibes recorded by the RNS reveals no evidence of any outside interference. The proxy’s team defeated the Phoenix Cantus through their ownーand Shibuya’sーstrength.

Secret Report No. 24[]

Now that the Game is over, I finally have permission to contact the Composer.

Several days have passed since then, and the Composer has already completed two orders of business.

One of them concerns Neku Sakuraba.

Using a sample from a parallel worldーone where Neku never went to Shinjuku, and instead lived peacefully in the RG for three yearsーthe Composer modified the space and memories around Neku so that he may once again reside in the RG without issue.

This is not particularly unusual, as the same steps must be taken when returning a Reaper to the RG.

The other order of business concerns Shoka Sakurane.

Her Reaper status lost, her destruction at the end of the Game was all but assured. However, the Composer saved her Soul at the precise moment it diffused for deletion. She has been reborn in the RG in Shibuya.

I believe this is a rare expression of gratitude on the Composer’s part. Gratitude toward the proxy, that is.

The proxy has also returned safely to his life in the RG. Through him, I have learned much about the network as a simulated plane of existence, as well as its effects on human emotion.

There is no denying its use as a tool to expand one’s world. However, it is up to the user to explore and experience that expanded world themselves, lest it remain a mere simulation.

“Enjoy the present,” and “keep moving forward.” Perhaps by refusing to interfere, the Composer meant to convey to Shibuya the importance of accepting our circumstances and taking action yourself.

I have one final note, directed at the proxy, Rindo Kanade.

The decision you made took courage, and I thank you for it. I sincerely hope we can meet in person someday.
