Neku attacks using psychs. Psychs available to him are determined by the pins he equips. A psych may be one of four affinities:

• Positive: Melee attacks
• Negative: Ranged attacks
• Neutral: Only Psychokinesis, Pressure Mine, and Irregular Note are neutral
• Ability: Fixed effects that do not deal direct damage

Positive and negative psychs may be absorbed, resisted, or deal additional damage to certain noise. See resistance for details. Neutral psychs deal nominal damage to all noise.

There are several ways to activate a psych:

• T = touch
• S = slash
• P = press
• D = drag
• H = scratch
• C = circle
• M = microphone
• R = rapid-tap
• B = touch the pin
• A = automatic
