NPC means non-playable character. There are several types of NPCs in the game:
- Shopkeepers, who offer Items for sale and as Quest rewards, as well as abilities for Threads.
- Reapers, who open connections between districts and give out Pins in return for completing various Objectives.
- Rhyme, Beat's younger sister and partner.
- Shibuya's people, who can be scanned for Thought Fragments.
- Sota and Nao, two players who made a pact. They help you and encourage you in the second week.
- Shuto Dan (Shooter), a Tin Pin fanatic who challenges, and gives you prizes (for beating him) throughout your journey.
- Itaru Yokoyamada (Yammer), Shooter's rival in Tin Pin.
- Sanae Hanekoma, who gives you various gadgets to help you beat the game.
- Megumi Kitaniji, the Game's Conductor who substitutes for the Composer.
- Sho Minamimoto, the second week's Game Master that makes piles of junk, talks in math phrases, and aspires to become the Composer.
- Yodai Higashizawa, the first week's Game Master.
- Mitsuki Konishi, the third week's Game Master. She is somewhat a control freak.
- Koki Kariya, a Harrier Reaper who could easily be a higher rank than he is, but stays a henchman due to laziness.
- Uzuki Yashiro, one of the Reapers who works diligently to get a promotion.
- 777 (Triple Seven), a rock star in the Realground who lurks in the shadows of the Underground as a Reaper. Vocalist of the band Def Märch.
- Tenho, one of Def Märch's members who is also a Reaper.
- BJ is one of Def Märch's members who is jealous of 777 because he gets to do vocals.
- Futoshi, Def Märch's technician.
- Makoto Miki, a businessman in Tin Pin who quits his job and begins a ramen business, Shadow Ramen.
- Ai and Mina, two girls who are friends with Makoto. Neku and Shiki have to stop their argument to progress in Week 1.
