Massive Hit is a positive psych found on four pins, and is known for having the longest charge time in the game. It is activated by pressing and holding Neku. While he is charging, efficiency will start at 20% and increase up to a final amount of 200%, at which point Neku will automatically unleash the attack. This attack involves Neku jumping slightly forward in the direction he is facing and swinging a large blade in a 180 degree arc above him. Neku may cancel the charge or release the attack prematurely for less efficiency. Regular Massive Hit pins are classified under B class.

The primary trick to using a Massive Hit pin is to assign it to a sub-slot. This forces the player to hold L or R while activating. Releasing L or R causes the attack to be canceled entirely, while releasing the stylus from Neku launches a premature attack.

Analysis

Massive Hit is the ultimate great risk, great reward psych. The charge time and small proximity of the attack makes it one of the most difficult psychs to use. Even Nexus Ray has less charge time. Neku must face the enemy from a short distance, is a sitting duck while charging, and must hope that the enemy does not move out of the way. Due to the charge time, this psych is only suitable for passing the puck. Therefore, only Dope Line (available at week 3, day 2 by evolving Kewl Line) is worth serious consideration because of its massive 225 pin ATK. The other Massive Hit pins do not have a high enough pin ATK to merit the risk.

One Stone, Many Birds is the Burst Rounds pin available for purchase at Dragon Couture. Anguis vs. Dope Line vs. Black Uranus vs. Kaleidoscope

Which pin can claim the title of being able to deal the most damage in a single hit? The contenders:

  • Dope Line: The most powerful Massive Hit pin
  • Kaleidoscope: The most powerful Burst Rounds pin. It's included in the shootout as an alternative for those who need a versatile pin and have not yet obtained the Darklit Planets set.

SOS setups deal the most damage in the game. Dope Line, Anguis, and Kaleidoscope can all use SOS 2.7, while Black Uranus needs Cosmic SOS. Dope Line, Black Uranus, and Kaleidoscope can take advantage of trends, while Anguis cannot. Dope Line and Kaleidoscope can also take advantage of Resonance. Assuming #1 trend conditions and normal difficulty, the damage calculations are as follows:

DAMAGE = (eATK + (pATK x R x T)) x SOS x EFF%
  • Anguis: (145 + (999 x 1.0 x 1.0)) x 2.7 x 1.00 = 1144 x 2.70 = 3088
  • Dope Line: (145 + (225 x 1.2 x 2.0)) x 2.7 x 2.00 = 685 x 5.40 = 3699
  • Black Uranus: (201 + (60 x 1.0 x 2.0)) x 2.0 x 3.00 = 321 x 6.00 = 1926
  • Kaleidoscope: (145 + (106 x 1.2 x 2.0)) x 2.7 x 1.50 = 399 x 4.05 = 1615

Congratulations to Dope Line, the most lethal single-hit pin in the game! Whether its sheer power is better than the speed of Black Uranus or Kaleidoscope is up to the player, though. Kaleidoscope is surprising in that it is not that much worse than Black Uranus.
