The World Ends With You
Neku lance lunge

Lance Lunge is a psych in The World Ends with You and NEO: The World Ends with You. In the first game, it is associated with Jupiter of the Monkey. In the second, it is associated with Monocrow.

The World Ends with You[]

It is a positive psych found on four pins. It is activated by touching an enemy. Neku will move in and thrust the targeted enemy, knocking it back a good distance. Note that it is possible for Neku to miss if he does not auto-align himself correctly or if the enemy moves before the thrust is complete. Lance Lunge pins are categorized under B class.

Analysis[]

Lance Lunge is best suited as a puck passer. At 80%, it is tied for fourth in efficiency among positive psychs after Massive Hit, Summon Rhyme, and Vortex Saber, and is faster than all of them. Lance Lunge's drawback is that it only hits one target unless enemies are aligned very well, but it is still a capable psych when superior psychs are unavailable.

Lance Lunge and Sweeper form a formidable combo that allows Lance Lunge to hit multiple enemies at once.

Nikkari vs. Mikazuki[]

Nikkari has two uses, but with less ATK and slow reboot, Mikazuki comes out as the superior pin. A reboot time of two seconds is short enough so that Mikazuki is available whenever Neku has the puck.

Mikazuki vs. Shiro[]

Mikazuki has significantly less power and uses, but has the fastest reboot time. Shiro may be more powerful in a variety of situations, but unless it is obtained via a mingle shop, it arrives far too late (W3D6) in the maingame to be of any use. Mikazuki can be obtained as early as W2D2.

Lance Lunge vs. Grave Marker[]

Fresh Line and Boomer can't be obtained until W3D4. Once they are available, they may replace Lance Lunge, as they are more accurate and deal significantly more damage.

Lance Lunge vs. Vortex Saber[]

Vortex Saber pins, such as Lightning Anger, have more ATK and higher efficiency. Their damage output and area effect more than counters the slower activation time, so it is suggested that they be used as the puck passers once they are available. However, Vortex Saber pins aren't as readily available as Lance Lunge. One early option, Tin Pin Blade, requires you to trade in Tin Pin Custom for Tin Pin Wind when you first visit Udagawa during W2D4, master it, and then trade that in. Since you don't get any more fights after entering Udagawa on W2D4, you'll have to either abuse Shutdown or Mingle PP, or come back on W2D6 to make the final purchase. Lightning Anger and Lightning Rage aren't available until postgame.

Lance Lunge vs. Grave Marker vs. Summon Rhyme[]

Summon Rhyme takes a bit of time to attack the enemy, but makes up for it with massive efficiency and additional uses. Grave Marker deals less damage but is able to infinite juggle, and works well with Sweeper. As Lance Lunge is the third banana, there should be no reason to favor it over the other two psychs.
