Food is a type of an Item that can be eaten by either Neku or his partner.

A food item is described by:

• number of Bytes required to digest
• immediate effect on sync rate
• effect after digestion is complete
• degree of like/dislike by each character

Eating Edit

Once food is eaten, it starts digesting. During this period, each encounter the character wins digests 1 byte of the food. (Note: a chain-4 battle has 4 encounters.) So if Neku eats an 16-byte item, the digestion will last until he wins 16 battles.

The initial sync bonus takes effect immediately, and is affected by the character's likes and dislikes. After digestion is complete, the other bonus takes effect. This can either be a permanent increase of the character's Attack, Defense, Hit Points or Bravery, a permanent increase of the pin Drop Rate, or another temporary sync increase. These bonuses (including the sync increase) are not affected by likes and dislikes.

Once a character digests 18 bytes of food on any given earth day, he/she cannot eat any food item larger than 6 bytes until that day ends (at midnight). However, if the player has the Hollow Leg Sticker, the player can eat as many bytes per day as they wish. In either case, a character cannot eat while the previous food is still being digested.

The character's stomach is represented by the 6 x 4 grid below each character's picture in the items menu. Food being digested in shown in green, yellow, and red squares; bytes already digested during the current earth day are shown in gray.

Effects Edit

Food effects on characters are described in-game, with one exception: the influence of food likes/dislikes.

The sync gained from a food is merely an approximation. The actual sync gained could be more or less than the number listed depending on a character's like or dislike of that type of food. Every time a character is given a certain type of food, they will make a comment based on their level of like/dislike for it. The kind of food each character likes and dislikes usually reflects their personality/background, such as Beat liking fast-food whereas Shiki dislikes them.
